ROSALIE CRONIN
Rosalie
Cronin is an artist. She doesn't work with paint or marble but with
patches of local and imported material from which she makes women's and men's
clothing and bags. Her original and timeless fashions are constructed from
magnificent fabrics, selected by Rosalie for their colour, pattern, texture,
durability and all round beauty. To own a piece of clothing or a bag by
Rosalie is like owning wearable artwork - you will treasure it and you will
always enjoy wearing and using it.
Rosalie loves texture and this
comes through in her designs. Heavy brocade, tapestrys, lace, ribbed fabrics
and elegantly stitched material all make their way into her patchwork
articles.
Her artworks include a range of
clothing - full-length coats, jackets, kimonos and vests - and she also
designs and makes a very elegant but durable range of bags and purses. All are
of course lined, strong and beautifully finished.

Original Patchworks jackets &
bags are an environmentally friendly choice.
For hundreds of years
garments have been made from patches of fabric for reasons of
economy and availability. In more recent times, artists and skilled
craftspeople have salvaged the offcuts of expensive brochades and velvets to
create usable works of art, rather than see these beautiful materials go to
waste. By their nature, patchworks can be made from a blend of the smallest of
fabric pieces of all shapes and sizes. The wooden buttons that adorn Rosalie's
work originate from branches dropped naturally by native trees to the earth's
floor. They are lovingly crafted and smoothed through wood artistry.
|
A special feature of Rosalie's work is the
use of wood. Her clothing features wonderfully crafted wooden buttons and the
bags include wooden supports and closures. These beautiful Australian native
wooden features are crafted locally by a South Australian wood artist. The raw
material is collected from the branches that fall naturally to the ground. The
various native wood pieces are crafted and polished to enhance their unique
look and feel contributing to the totally original work that is an 'Original
Patchworks' bag or jacket. Coming
